Grief can be devastating, exhausting, and seem impossible to overcome. We see many individuals and families facing this uphill struggle, and it is our privilege to try and make the journey that little bit easier. Concerned by how cold and business-like many funeral directors are, when Jo started Albany Funerals it was with a vision that all visitors will receive a warm and genuine welcome and all the time necessary to plan the funeral that is right for them.

The premises are bright and homely – nothing like the stereotype funeral directors – and Pix, our friendly dog, is often around if you’d like to see her. Do not feel rushed; pop in and see us, if you phone ahead we’ll arrange a time to meet that is convenient for you.

Albany Coffee Mornings/Afternoons

Adjusting to new circumstances whilst trying to manage the tidal wave of emotions that grief brings can be a lonely place in the months that follow a bereavement, particularly of a spouse. This is why we decided to start coffee mornings and afternoons for the bereaved. Our Maidstone morning group has now been running for almost 10 years, and our Ashford afternoon group has just started. It’s a friendly place, where cakes are eaten, coffee and tea are served in abundance, tears are shed, laughter is heard, recipes exchanged, support is given and even friendships are forged. It has been a true lifeline for some, and for others an excuse to get out and have a chat and a cup of tea with people who truly understand how they are feeling.

Due to a lack of space and the concerns surrounding crowded indoor spaces during Coronavirus, we have sadly had to suspend our coffee morning meet-ups for the time being.  However, we will continue to hold occasional get-togethers either outside or at other venues.  If you are interested in joining us – please get in touch and we will add you to our contact list.

Coffee Morning Dates MAIDSTONE

Sadly we have had to postpone our coffee morning gatherings during the pandemic but we will let you know as soon as we are able to restart them.

Coffee Morning Dates ASHFORD

Sadly we have had to postpone our coffee morning gatherings during the pandemic but we will let you know as soon as we are able to restart them.

We could never have wished for anyone more perfect to help us plan John’s farewell. Under impossible circumstances, it’s been a pleasure meeting you. Your incredible warmth and support has made this time as easy as we believe it could have been . A big thank you to all of you.

Our heartfelt and sincere thanks go to our and your team for such a lovely celebration of the life of Malcolm. It was absolutely perfect and we could not have hoped for a better send off for a man who has inspired many and of whom we are immensely proud. The flowers were stunning and all your hard work in making everything happen like clockwork will always be remembered. With our best wishes to you and your team of ‘gems’.

Sue & David

Bereavement is a difficult and stressful time, but from our first meeting we were cared for in a compassionate way and given time to consider our wishes with no pressure. Sam was caring and reassuring, completely putting our minds at rest over every little detail. Albany provided an excellent service from the start. The team were friendly, respectful and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending them!

Some of the group on our outing to Hastings.  We had fish and chips, ice cream and sunshine!

Watch our 2016 Balloon Release

Each year we hold a remembrance event, attended by hundreds of families and friends who we have served. Here is a short video from October 1st 2016 when Albany Funerals had its Annual Balloon Release to give those who are grieving an opportunity to remember loved ones and raise money for charity. It was a special day.  Since we realised that even biodegradable balloons can cause serious damage to animals and wildlife, we started our Wall of Remembrance events – our first one in September 2018 was a great success
