Good morning everyone! We’d like to share the below words from Heart of Kent Hospice about their Compassionate Neighbour Project as a close friend is a volunteer in this wonderful initiative. “The project was launched in January 2020 to tackle social isolation and loneliness for those living with a life-limiting illness or frailty in Maidstone, Tonbridge and Malling and surrounding towns and villages. In just one year, the project has recruited and trained 67 Compassionate Neighbour volunteers, of which 51 have been matched and supported 67 isolated members within the local community. To meet the needs of the community, so that no one nearing the end of their life through age or illness feels lonely, Heart of Kent Hospice is aiming to recruit and train at least six new volunteers every month”.If any of our followers feel they could be part of this fantastic scheme, get in touch with the Heart of Kent Hospice, they’d love to hear from you. 🌸 ... With the coronavirus restrictions still limiting funerals to 30 people, being able to offer a live stream of the service has made such a difference to many of our clients. We've had friends and family members from all over the world joining us on their screens from the comfort and safety of their own homes, and also even fully participating in 'Zoom' funerals. Some are still a bit skeptical but we honestly find that the experience has been mostly positive, and offered a real lifeline in some situations. Here is a little video prepared by one of the celebrants we work with which offers some great insight and advice on how to get the most out of attending a funeral via live-stream or Zoom. Thank you Marc Lemezma. https://vimeo.com/531153582 ... See MoreSee Less

Rather than a traditional service did you know you can organise an unattended cremation? For some the formal ceremony at a crematorium is not feasible, too costly, unbearable or has no meaning in a space that can feel disconnected to the person who died. An unattended cremation enables you to arrange a celebration of your loved one’s life at a venue of your own choice where you can say goodbye with scattering of ashes, or not. This type of memorial gives you the opportunity, with more time and space, to add personal and creative aspects to saying farewell. At Albany we embrace this option wholeheartedly, there are so many ways of saying goodbye, we want people to know there are choices and families do not have to be constricted by tradition. The images are of an unattended cremation, at all times our staff and the staff at Vinters Park Crematorium treat the departed with peaceful dignity. In this instance the family held an afternoon tea around the coffin in the beautiful lounge space at our Ashford premises, they shared laughter, anecdotes and photographs whilst listening to favourite songs and reminiscing, it was a very special afternoon. (Photos shared with permission and government guidelines were observed). ... See MoreSee Less

What can I say but Thank you to Matthew, Angela and Anisa, for the most amazing care and compassion shown through these difficult few weeks. We chose Albany as they are an ethical company and provide the most first class service. Their care and compassion is second to none.
Nothing was too much problem. And even when I couldn't cope in a difficult situation and needed a chat Angela was there to listen and to chat.
Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts for the care you've given to Nan/ Mum these last few weeks. We have no hesitation to recommend Albany Funeral service.

Jim and Matt guided us through the whole process of the initial preparation and planning right through to being there on the day of the funeral for dad's final journey.

When my husband suddenly and unexpectedly died in November, I was at a loss of where to turn. I was recommended Albany by a couple of friends, a choice I never regretted.
From the first meeting I had with Angela, I felt at ease that they were the best choice to look after my husband and take him on his final journey. Angela was so kind, compassionate, and understanding. Over a cup of tea, she asked questions about my husband and the sort of service I wanted for him. She recommended a celebrant who was perfect. The service was spot on and all I could have hoped for to give my husband the send-off he deserved in the difficult times due to the lockdown restrictions.
On the day, Matthew and his team performed their duties with dignity and discretion.
I would like to thank Angela, Matthew and the team whose kindness and professionalism helped to make the whole situation more bearable. I would 100% recommend Albany to look after your family.

I don't know how you could get a better service from anyone quite honestly. And very reasonable costs - you don't feel at all like anyone is taking advantage of you. Really really nice people. Totally recommend 100%.

I the last 3 months, sadly we have had to call on the services of Albany.
The team are amazing, I think service like this is hard to come by in this modern corporate world. To have this family run business able to provide you with this level of contact and personalisation was a refreshing change.
They where always at the end of the phone to answer questions and explain the processes and legal jargon. I never had to chase them, call backs were never more than a few minutes, with an apology and an explanation at to why the call was not answered immediately.
You get to know all the staff on a first name basis and you can see that it is so important to them you get to send off your loved one in the manor you desired.
I will no doubt be taking them up on there remembrance and celebration events.
Will only use Albany from this point on.

this is a genuine feedback.Albany have recently looked after my beloved wife of 50 years.they were really understanding at such a difficult time and provided everything needed even letting the coffin bearers wear bright ties rather than the usual black !! ther pricing was honest without any pressure to buy extras.use them rather than the big countrywide firms who only seem interested in your money without any sympathy

It’s quite hard to put into words how grateful we are to Jo and Albany for how much support they gave to my family and especially my mum after my dad died.
I’m sure we weren’t unusual in wanting something personal and to do our best for Dad and Jo not only juggled all our ideas, but also had some great suggestions herself as she gently guided us through the process, making it as easy as it could be. She brings a huge amount of care, warmth and confidence which in a very tough time, we needed and made us feel very special.
To this day, my mum regularly attends the Albany Coffee Mornings for many of the widows and widowers, so Jo’s generosity and compassion doesn’t just end there…
Totally recommend and will be forever grateful.

I first heard about Albany Funerals when a 7 year old boy died suddenly in the playground of my grand-daughter's school, it was just before Christmas and we heard that Albany Funerals arranged for a member of staff to be at their premises during the Christmas period to enable the family to be with their child during that tragic time. When my Mother died a few years later Albany was the obvious choice for me, so consequently I met Jo and her carefully selected staff who acted like an extended family and helped in every aspect of what could have been a total nightmare.
Jo is a 100% kind, caring and understanding person which is a rarity in any walk of life and she can identify with families about their loss.
Jo annually arranges a balloon release in memory of deceased loved ones which is a very moving experience, attended by many people and also raises money for the Heart of Kent Hospice.
There is a coffee morning once a month for bereaved relatives, where Jo provides coffee, her home made cakes, companionship and love, with each visitor treated like a much loved relative.
I recently asked Jo why the lights were left on in her premises all night and she told me that to grieving families it looks like their loved ones are not alone. I have often thought about this and it moves me to tears because she is so right. If ever there was a person completely suited to their job then it is her. We have been back to visit her because she had the unique ability to make an undertaker's premises feel like a friendly home and everyone of her well picked staff feel like friends.

When Mum died suddenly, I didn’t have a funeral directors in mind. I knew Mum wanted to be buried in woodland and I found Albany Funerals online via the Natural Death Society. They were so very kind and helpful from the word go. Nothing was too much trouble to Jo and all her staff. They really looked after Mum and I and helped to make Mum’s send off truly special, for which I am truly grateful.
